At Hotovo, we love giving back to the community and creating connections that go beyond our work lives. Recently, a bunch of us spent an awesome afternoon volunteering at LUX, the local social services home here in Košice. We teamed up with their clients and staff to help rejuvenate the center’s pavements and pathways, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience.

The day kicked off with a warm welcome from everyone at the home. The excitement was contagious as we split into teams, blending our volunteers with the home’s residents and employees. There was a buzz in the air, and it was clear that everyone was eager to dive into the project.

With tools in hand and plenty of energy, we got to work. We cleared away debris and unwanted grass to create nice, clear pathways. Working side by side, we chatted, laughed, and bonded. It was amazing to see everyone come together and feel a sense of accomplishment as the hours passed by.

One of the best parts was hearing the stories and experiences of the home’s residents and other clients. They gave us a glimpse into their lives, sharing things about their daily routines and their hobbies, as well as the challenges they face. We also got a tour of the center and their living spaces, and saw firsthand all the different activities they enjoy there – from painting and crafting to gardening and music sessions. Seeing their creativity and passion for these activities was truly inspiring. In return, we brought some fresh ideas and a lot of enthusiasm to the project. There was a real sense of shared purpose and mutual respect that made the day very special.

By the end of the afternoon, most of the pathways looked fantastic! But more than that, we all felt a deeper connection with each other. The social services home now has a beautiful outdoor space that everyone can enjoy.

Volunteering at LUX wasn’t just about getting out of the office, it was about making a real difference and having fun doing it. At Hotovo, we’re all about building strong, positive relationships – not only with our clients, but also with our community.
