Bridging Education and Innovation
Live IT Projects is a unique educational initiative that fosters collaboration between universities and industry experts under the patronage of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics at TUKE and the Košice IT Valley association. Its scope and structure are unparalleled in Slovakia, providing students with a real-world learning experience.
This year's edition saw an exciting mix of creativity and problem-solving, once again with Hotovo taking its part. With the guidance of our colleagues, students addressed real-world challenges through technology.
These projects emerged as practical solutions to complex technological challenges, from web and mobile applications to interactive tools. Having participated in multiple editions, we continue to contribute our expertise in mentoring and supporting the next generation of developers.
Esti
One such project, Esti, helps individuals bring their app ideas to life by simplifying the process of finding developers and estimating costs. It collects essential details, stores them in a database, and generates an initial estimate, making it easier for clients to connect with software teams. Built with React, Vue.js, and Firebase, this tool provided students with hands-on experience in web development.
DJ Advisor
Another creative project, DJ Advisor, improves the party experience by allowing guests to request songs from the DJ's music library. The DJ retains control over the final playlist while integrating audience preferences. Using Flutter and Firebase, this app makes events more engaging and interactive.
With four DJs among our colleagues, this topic resonates with us, and it's interesting to see how technology can improve the music experience.
Cloud Sport Timer
Cloud Sport Timer redefines competition timing by replacing expensive hardware with a cloud-based solution. Users can create and share timers using a simple link, viewable on any internet-enabled device, while an admin panel allows remote control. Especially valuable for climbing competitions, it extends the functionality of Verti, a Hotovo product, making event management more efficient and streamlined.
Application for the anti-corruption festival PUCUNG
In addition to these projects, we have been a long-time supporter of the Pucung Festival, this time helping to develop its app to improve festival scheduling and accessibility. The app provides essential event details, updates, and ticket-purchasing options, assisting attendees to navigate the festival experience more easily. Our goal was to offer technological assistance where needed, ensuring a smoother experience for visitors. The app was among the finalists, recognizing the students' dedication and technical skills.
The finals of Live IT Projects took place at the Kulturpark, where students presented their projects to a panel of experts. It was inspiring to see their progress from initial brainstorming to fully functioning applications, demonstrating their creativity and technical skills. The event highlighted the value of mentorship and collaboration between students and industry professionals.
